Danzon, the enhanced form of the word Danza, is performed collectively in couples. It arrived to Mexico by way of Cuba and becomes very popular along the Caribbean and Gulf coast of Mexico where it was danced in ballrooms and courtyards. Eventually, this dance and musical style made its way to Mexico City, where Salon Mexico was inaugurated, becoming the most popular ballroom of its time.
