World City at the W.M. Keck Foundation Children’s Amphitheatre

Celebrating its fifth season, World City is the Music Center’s highly acclaimed free performance series reflecting the rich array of cultures making up the Los Angeles community. In addition to performances, free arts workshops for children are offered in the adjacent Blue Ribbon Garden.

 

Natividad “Nati” Cano is both a traditionalist and a visionary and has shaped the history of mariachi music and his band, Mariachi Los Camperos, is considered one of the finest mariachi bands in the world. Then, at the Music Center for the first time is Ensambles Ballet Folklorico de San Francisco, performing regional dances of Mexico in a visually stunning show.

Community Event
Hands-on craft activities, demonstrations, music, dance, ceremonia, food, and a mercado. Fun for all ages! Performers include Ensambles Ballet Folklorico de San Francisco, Orquesta La Moderna Tradición, Tamborazo Zacatecano El Herradero, Danza Cuauhtonal, Ixim-Tinamit, and Balamcoatl.

* Participation in the celebration is free. General admission to the museum galleries, including Days of the Dead exhibition, will be half-price all day. For a printable schedule. (Requires Acrobat)

Youth In Arts Performance Series

The Performing Arts Series is a season of theatrical productions by professional touring groups specifically designed to be educational as well as entertaining. Performances are attended by children ranging in age from three to fourteen, generally PreK- 8th grade. The series features live performances of drama, world music, world dance, puppetry, musical theatre, Shakespeare, storytelling and music of all kinds. The success of this popular series staged at Marin Center theaters, is exemplified by the participation of more than 25,000 children each year.
